Moonlight State Beach is located at the end of Encinitas Boulevard where it meets the ocean. It is the largest beach in town complete with new bathrooms, outdoor showers, a refreshment stand, barbecue grills and concrete tables. There are fire pits and a walkway to the water. It is a local hangout where surfers hit the waves and volleyball players work out on the three professional courts. There are often tournaments and always a party at Moonlight. In the summer many camps take advantage of the beach, including the Junior Lifeguard program. The real lifeguards have their headquarters here and are available to the public. Take advantage of the new playground equipment, plenty of parking, including handicap parking nearest to the beach.
